BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Two years after the last edition, the 2015 Bangor Firefighter Calendar has been released.
This year's calender features 12 male firefighters and one female firefighter - posing for a good cause. The calender is a bi-yearly fundraiser created and distributed by the Bangor Fire Department to raise money to maintain the Hose Five Fire Museum - a more than 100-year-old firehouse that once served as Bangor's main fire station. Many photos in the calendar were shot inside the museum and featured vintage tools and firetrucks.
"All the money from what we sell goes right directly to the museum. And by doing that, that calendar has improved that building- put a brand new slate roof on it, we've got a brand new heating system. It's an older building so it takes a lot of money to keep it going," said Bangor Fire Captain Matt Costello.
The Bangor Fire Department is holding a calendar kickoff signing at Hero's Sports Grill on Thursday, September 4 at 7 p.m. People will be able to purchase calendars and have them signed by the firefighters featured in them. Calendars are $12 each and can be purchased at Central Fire on Main Street in Bangor or online. Stores around Bangor will also be carrying the calendars in the coming weeks.
