Biddeford hit-and-run death 'accidental,' medical examiner's office says

Parking lot death called 'accidental'

BIDDEFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — A hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a Biddeford man Monday has been deemed "accidental" by the state medical examiner's office.

The medical examiner's office, according to state Public Safety Department spokesperson Steve McCausland, said Matthew Perry's death was caused by "blunt force trauma to the head and chest" when he "fell to the ground and was run over by the vehicle."

The death was accidental, the office said.

The incident happened off Route 111 in Biddeford in the parking lot of Play It Again Sports on Alfred Street. An autopsy was conducted earlier on Tuesday.

State police have turned the investigation over to Biddeford Police.
