SACO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- According to our media partners at the Portland Press Herald, 87-year-old Jewell Friedman, the woman critically injured in a hit-and-run in Saco June 21, died at Maine Medical Center Saturday.
According to a hospital official, Friedman died around 6 A.M. She was hit by a truck while walking her dog on Ferry Rd. around 10 A.M. June 21. The truck fled the scene.
Two days later, 45-year-old Leo Paul Bedard of Saco was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after Saco Police received a phone tip. Saco Police weren't immediately available for comment on whether Bedard would face further charges.
Bedard is being held at York County Jail on the felony charges along with previous charges, including Violating Conditions of Release & several counts of Operating After License was Suspended or Revoked Failure to Appear in Court.
Friedman lived at the Atlantic Heights retirement community off Ferry Rd.
