Body of canoeist pulled from Echo Lake

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The body of a man from Presque Isle was recovered Sunday morning after a canoe he was in with two other men capsized on Echo Lake.

The Maine Warden Service was called to the scene around 2:30 Sunday morning. They recovered Jacob Caldwell's body around 11am.

The two other men, also from Presque Isle, were able to swim to shore.

It isn't clear how deep the water was where the canoe flipped, but wardens are reminding people that though the weather may be warmer, it's still important to dress appropriately for cold water.

The incident is under investigation.
