LISBON FALLS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A house fire in Lisbon Falls seriously injured one woman and killed more than a dozen pets, according to Lisbon Falls Deputy Fire Chief Bob Robitaille.
Officials said they were called to a home at 64 Summer Street around 3:30 pm Saturday. Officials said they were at the scene for hours, knocking down the fire and then staying for clean up. The home was destroyed.
The only person home at the time of the fire was Amanda Wrobel. Officials said she was taken to Maine Medical Center for burns and smoke inhalation. The fire department said she was in critical condition and an official at Maine Med confirmed that later Saturday night.
Several animals were killed in the fire, including dogs and cats. Fire officials said Wrobel was awakened by one of the dogs in the home when the fire broke out.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Lisbon Fire Department. Officials said the state fire marshal will investigate the fire Monday.
Fire officials Saturday night were not able to tell NEWS CENTER if the home had working smoke detectors.
