POLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The piles of wood chips at a Poland business provided ample fuel for a stubborn fire.
The fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at Oldcastle Lawn and Garden on Spring Water Rd.
Firefighters spent hours applying a steady stream of water. The local department were helped in their effort by crews from Minot, Otisfield, New Gloucester, Raymond, Norway, Durham and more. A helicopter carrying a payload of water also provided aerial support.
Eventually, a helicopter came in for some ground relief, making multiple passes overhead.
In 2008, another fire at the same site burned across 14 acres and destroyed several buildings.
