iPhone 7 draws local loyal brand users

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Retailers in the Portland area opened early Friday for the launch of the iPhone 7, but one of the available finishes is already out of stock. The jet black color has sold out.

The phones are supposed to have faster processors, better cameras and a longer battery life. They're also supposed to be more water-resistant. Apple has received a lot of attention and criticism for removing the headphone jack on the new iPhone, but local buyers at AT&T in Portland say Apple has always been innovative and that they'll stick with the brand.

Typically, iPhone customers have been a customer and a loyal brand customer for quite some time," said Scott Gouse, area retail sales lead at AT&T, of the people who came to get an iPhone 7 first thing Friday morning. "So, usually when it comes to doy one launch, typically these are customers that have had an iPhone long before and just love to keep up with the technology."

For those who weren't interested in being the first to get the new version, many people took advantage of Friday's launch to pick up the previous iPhone 6 for a lower price.
