Maine man arrested for allegedly assaulting two officers

CARMEL, Maine (NEWS CENTER) – Police have arrested a man for injuring two sheriff’s deputy. Penobscot sheriff’s deputy responded to a medical emergency on Thursday just before 8:00 p.m. in East Court in Carmel for 27 year-old Anthony Bell.

Police say while an officer was trying to help Bell, he became combative, got a shot gun and shot it. Shortly after, police say Bell put the gun down and was subdued by Penobscot County deputies. Police say while he was being arrested he injured an officer.

Bell was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment and while there assaulted another officer.  

Bell was arrested Friday morning after being released from the hospital. He is charged with assault on an officer and is being held at the Penobscot County jail on $75,000 cash bail.

Police say they continue to investigate the incident and more charges are likely.
