Man rescued from 15 ft. fall in Acadia National Park

Man rescued after falling 15 feet in Acadia.

ACADIA NATIONAL PARK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A man from Connecticut is recovering after falling 15 feet in Acadia National Park on Saturday. 

Park rangers say 67 year old Richard Cavalieri was hiking alone on the Precipice Trail when he slipped and fell down a cliff.

Another hiker on the trail saw the fall and called for help.Cavalieri was air lifted to Eastern Maine Medical Center after over 30 rescuers worked to get him safely down the trail. 

Rangers say Cavalieri suffered head trauma and broken ribs.  He has since been released from the hospital.
