ENFIELD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — On Wednesday, a man from Lincoln celebrated his 102nd birthday, the best way he knew how- by staying active.
Stuart Lane took to the Barns Brook Course to hit some golf balls with his son. Other than spending some quality time with his family, Lane had one special birthday wish in mind.
“Not to have a prolonged miserable life, to be happy and reasonably healthy,” he said.
Alan Lane, has been playing golf with his father for nearly 36 years.
“People even a few years younger than him, need to focus on staying active,” he said.
Staying mentally and physically engaged is Lane’s secret to his youthful spirit.
“I’m as healthy as a horse and I still feel like I’m 22,” he said.
Although he has been the oldest member of the golf course for years, he means business.
“I’m very competitive. I want to win,” said Lane.
Lane has become such a legend at the course, that the owners and his friends planted a sugar maple tree in his honor.
Although he did not win his birthday game, it was still a celebration he would never forget.
