More than 7,000 without power in Bangor, Mount Desert Island

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Officials with Emera Maine Electric say more than 2,500 people in Bangor and another 3,500 in Mount Desert Island are without power Monday due to strong winds.

Winds are bringing trees and tree limbs down onto power lines. Drivers are urged to use caution on Main Street in Bangor as some traffic lights are out.

Crews are on scene and will work on repairs until power is restored, which is estimated to be around 1:30 Monday afternoon.

Emera will provide another update at 4:00 p.m.
