It's Talk Like A Pirate Day!

If you want to dress like a pirate, make sure you have your trusty eye patch.
Pirates did, in fact, wear them; but do you know why?

For today's stumper:

Keeping one eye covered enabled a sailor of the seven seas to use that eye to see rather than wait for both eyes to adjust to the dark after being on deck in the blinding sun.

The annual Talk Like a Pirate Day was apparently created in the 90s by Captain Slappy and Ol' Chumbucket .

If you've ever wanted an excuse to talk like a pirate, today's your chance.

So throw on that eye patch, practice a pirate's favorite letter of the alphabet--"R"-- and keep your crew from making you walk the plank.
