With yet another national food scare in the news -- peanut butter products tainted with salmonela -- people are once again taking stock of the way they buy their food. Community supported agriculture is one way for consumers to get fresh, local food and help sustain Maine farms. The way it works is pretty simple: you pay a set amount up front and get a share of the farm's harvest throughout the season.
On February 8th, farms from all over Maine will be respresented at CSA fairs at eleven locations from Orono to Saco. You can learn how CSA's work and shop around for a CSA that's right for you and your family. The fairs all run from 1:00-4:00 pm.
Here's a list of the locations:
Belfast -- Unitarian Universalist Church of Belfast, 37 Miller St.
Brunswick -- St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 27 Pleasant St.
Canaan -- Union Church, Rt. 2
Ellsworth -- Unitarian Universalist Church of Ellsworth 121 Bucksport Rd.
Farmington -- Fairbanks School Meeting House, 508 Fairbanks Rd.
