Overdose leads to car crash in Amherst

Two men overdose in Amherst car.

AMHERST, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Two men were hospitalized after overdosing on drugs in their car.

The incident took place in front of “Ralph’s General Store” on Route 9.

The owner of the store, Ralph Jordan, quickly called police after he saw the red pick-up truck swerving on the opposite side of the road before it landed in a ditch.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s office responded to the call just after 9 o’clock this morning.

When they arrived on the scene, police found two unconscious men inside of the vehicle.

“I don’t like to see it in our small town but I know its state wide and nation-wide. I mean you got to do something. It’s just getting worse,” said Jordan.

The accident is part of an on-going investigation, NEWS CENTER will have more details as they unfold.
