Police say Broadway robberies are "unusual"

BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Two businesses robbed on Broadway in a span of a week. But what's just as unusual about the time between the two hold-ups is the distance between the two buildings. Rite-Aid and the Maine Savings Federal Credit Union are just feet apart.

it's a scenario that police are calling 'unusual.' Lieutenant Tim Reid of the Bangor Police Department says the only other robbery to take place on Broadway was when the Bangor Savings Bank was robbed three years ago.

Anyone who has ever traveled in that area knows that Broadway is a busy street, which Lt. Reid says can work both ways for the team of investigators. One way that it will help is that eyes were everywhere on both of those days.

The Bangor Police Department has received tips from people traveling by car and by foot at the time of the robberies and they've reached out to nearby businesses as well to try and find out who robbed these two locations, and where they may be.

While these crimes are unusual on Broadway, area employees say their level of concern for their own safety hasn't changed.
