SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- It's a scenario you've dreamed about: you walk up to an ATM to withdraw a little money, but instead it starts spitting out thousands.
That's exactly what happened to a South Portland man. He wanted $140, but instead got $37,000.
Unfortunately, in this case, all good things come to an end. A woman behind him called police because he was spending an "unusual amount of time" at the ATM she was waiting to use. Officers forced him to give the money back, but no charges were pressed. The bank is blaming a "code error."
