SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - - Maine State Police need your help solving the 1974 cold case of a South-Portland woman found dead in her car.
Police said Joyce Tanerillo was found on August 26, 1974, at approximately 8:30 p.m. in her car which was parked at her home in South Portland.
According to the Major Crime unit, her husband told police that Tanerillo was last seen alive at 1pm on that same summer day by her ex-husband whom she met over coffee and conversation.
Her ex-husband also spoke to police and gave them this statement: He said that after talking with Tanerillo, she left, picked up a hitchhiker on Congress Street in Portland, then ran three red lights. Her ex-husband told police that he followed his ex-wife but lost her at the lights, according to Maine State Police.
Maine State Police confirm that a suspect has been interviewed, but did not provide any additional details.
