Speed, alcohol both factors in Frenchville crash involving 17-year-old: police

FRENCHVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) — State police are investigating an early Saturday morning crash in Frenchville that sent a 17-year-old boy to the hospital with minor injuries.

Speed and alcohol were both factors in the crash, according to Maine State Police Cpl. Chuck Michaud.

Police said the crash occurred on Pelletier Avenue, and when law enforcement arrived, the truck was on its roof in a ditch. An initial investigation revealed the driver, a resident of Madawaska, had lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway.

Both the boy and a passenger were able to get out of the truck following the crash, police said.

The boy was not wearing his seatbelt. It is unclear whether the passenger was or was not.

They were both treated at Northern Maine Medical Center for minor injuries and released.

The investigation remains active.
