PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER) -- Curtis Robinson loves his job. You can tell that right away. He's the editor and part owner of the newest newspaper in town, the Portland Daily Sun. The newspaper will be published five days a week. Robinson says he has heard the doom and gloom about the future of newspapers but believes free local dailies are a different breed from larger regional publications.
"There are a lot of studies out now," says Robinson, "and one that I think came out last week about suburban newspapers that indicates the problems that larger papers have, community papers don't have to that degree."
Robinson says Portland is a perfect place for the Daily Sun--a walkable city with lots of coffee houses and a community that's issue oriented.
"Portland is a news factory. And the reason its a news factory is because the residents care and because they care they discuss issues," says Robinson.
His partners in the Portland Daily Sun also own three other dailies in New Hampshire, including one in Conway.
