BANGOR (NEWS CENTER) -- Dozens of pro union supporters gathered in front of a Rite Aid store in Bangor Thursday morning for a protest. Members of the group Food and Medicine gathered to protest what they say are attempts by Rite Aid to block efforts by employees to unionize at a Rite Aid distribution facility in California.

The group also seized the opportunity to lobby for the Employee Free Choice Act -- a piece of legislation designed to make it easier for unions to recruit new members.

A spokesperson for Rite Aid says the company has and will continue to bargain in good faith with employees in Lancaster, California.

Rite Aid also says it opposes the Employee Free Choice Act because it will strip workers of their right to a private vote when forming a union.
