PORTLAND (AP) -- The Coast Guard says two fishing boats collided off southern Maine and one of the boats sank. No injuries were reported in the incident that took place shortly before noon on Tuesday about six miles east of Halfway Rock, off Bailey Island.

Officials got word of the collision shortly before noon after the 45-foot Tenacious, out of Sebasco, reported that it collided with a 30-foot boat that sank in 80 feet of water. The two crew members aboard that boat were able to get off before it sank and joined the two aboard the Tenacious.

The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the collision. It said visibility was clear at the time and seas were calm.
