STONEHAM (NEWS CENTER) -- The residents of about 20 summer homes in Stoneham can get to and from their homes by car right now, thanks to a temporary bridge that residents say has been installed. The one bridge in and out of their neighborhood gave way Tuesday afternoon. A dump truck delivering gravel to one of the properties was driving over the bridge around 1p.m. on Tuesday, when the bridge buckled. The truck from Hatch Excavation fell into a brook that connects to Keewaydin Lake. The driver was shaken, but not hurt. Because the road into that neighborhood is private, there's no one person responsible for fixing the bridge. The town said residents must maintain the bridge themselves. it is not yet clear when a more permanent solution will be put in place or how much it will cost.
