AUGUSTA (AP)-- A group hoping to block enacted legislation to legalize same sex marriage in Maine is collecting money for their campaign.
So fair the group says they have collected more than $365,000.
Proponents of the pending law said Thursday they took in close to $200,000 in cash and in-kind contributions during the opening weeks of fundraising.
Six states allow gay marriage. Maine became the fifth state to allow gay marriage in May, and New Hampshire later followed suit.
The group is hoping to force the legislation to be on the November statewide ballot.
