NEW GLOUCESTER (NEWS CENTER) -- Sparks flared in New Gloucester Saturday morning. It was part of a training burn for the town's fire and rescue crews. They were joined by Pownal Fire and Rescue to help put out the flames. It's especially important that New Gloucester be able to handle liquid propane emergencies because the major trucking routes of the Maine Turnpike, Route 26 and Route 100 all run through town. The town also has two sets of railroad tracks that often bear gas loads. As a result, the training focused on extinguishing a propane gas flame.
