JEFFERSON (NEWS CENTER) -- A man from Farmingdale died in a canoe accident Sunday afternoon on Damariscotta Lake in Jefferson.

The Maine Warden Service said 43-year old Kenneth Soucy and his 23-year old son, Alex, were in the canoe when it tipped over around 2:15 p.m. The two men fell into about 7 feet of water, about 30-40 feet from shore.

The Warden Service said Kenneth Soucy didn't come up. A neighbor who was on shore swam out and pulled him out of the water. Alex Soucy swam to shore on his own.

Kenneth Soucy died this evening at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.

There were lifejackets in the canoe.
