BANGOR (NEWS CENTER) -- If you see some strangely costumed people walking around Bangor this weekend, don't be alarmed, they're likely just here for the second annual BangPop! Comic and Pop Culture Convention.

BangPop! is Saturday and Sunday at the Bangor Civic Center. Event organizer Gibran Graham said there will be comic book artists, collectibles, authors and even movie screenings at this year's event.

Gibran said over the years he's traveled to comic book and collectors' conventions all over the country. So he decided to bring a smaller convention to the Bangor area.

"Bring a convention that has guests and programming and kids days and costumes and all sorts of fun, including the collectibles dealers, and just invite everybody from the area to this," he said.

There is a costume masquerade Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Gibran hopes to see lots of people dressed up then.

The convention is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A weekend pass is $15, a day pass is $10, and children under 12 get in free with an adult. Librarians and teachers get in free with proper identification, as there are special workshops for them.
