BREWER (NEWS CENTER) -- A unique church in the Bangor area has added a new location. The Rock Church of Greater Bangor held services in its new church in Brewer Sunday. It doesn't look like a church at all. It is located in the Brewer Shopping Center. Pastor Dave Dube says that's part of the Rock Church's mission. The church takes pride in its non-traditional approach, which includes upbeat live music, fun activities for kids, and preaching in a way that people can relate to. "We do that on purpose so that people can come in and feel comfortable, and through that attraction they can get a relationship with Jesus Christ" Dube said. That's what appealed to April Braley when she joined the church three months ago. "The atmosphere is overwhelming," Braley told NEWS CENTER. "The fact that you get the Word straight up, there's no other ties to go with it, everybody's welcome, it's a comfortable environment." The Brewer facility is part of the existing church in Bangor, which the Dube says was starting to get overcrowded. The Rock Church was founded twelve years ago in Bangor. There are also similar churches in Portland and Winter Harbor, and the church is continuing to look for other places to expand.
