DENNYSVILLE (NEWS CENTER) -- The state fire marshal's office arrested Bryon Alley, 51, of Machias Wednesday morning, and charged him with arson for an overnight fire at a home in Dennysville.

Alley was taken into custody at his home at 7:45 a.m. and taken to the Washington County Jail.

Investigators say he started a fire at the home of Joyce Morse, 61, on South Ridge Road in Dennysville. Morse reported the fire at about 2 a.m. after she said her dogs woke her up.

Morse was able to put the fire out using water but sustained minor burns on her feet.

Authorities say the fire was set near a door on the outside of the home using combustible material. Investigators say Morse and Alley knew each other. Alley was questioned a few hours after the incident and arrested.
