MEDWAY (NEWS CENTER) -- Voters in Medway are getting a chance to choose their favorite name for a new bridge in town.

The bridge on Route 116 over the West Branch of the Penobscot River was replaced about a year ago.  It was formerly known as the Singing Bridge locally, and officially as the Pattagumpus Bridge.  The new bridge does not have a name.

Medway's board of selectmen asked townspeople to submit suggestions, as well as essays as to why they are making that suggestion.  Tuesday people will vote on those suggestions.

"We'll meet next week. Take it into advisement as to the top names they submitted. We'll vote on it, make a decision on which name we're going to submit, and submit it to Herb Clark who's our local represenative from the statehouse," said Dave Dickey, chairman of the board.  "Then it has to be sent in in the form of a bill."

Dickey says the essays are available to read at the town office.

Here are the choices resident have:

Nicatou Bridge

Carroll Henry Stanley Bridge

William L. Russell Memorial Bridge

Charles Powers Memorial Bridge

Jesus Bridge

Evelyn Powers Memorial Bridge

Guardian Bridge

Otho and Lilly Stanley Memorial Bridge

Cross Bridge

Rockabeemie Bridge

Lennie Wallace Bridge

Terry Dickey Memorial Bridge

Medway Citizens Memorial Bridge
