CALAIS (NEWS CENTER) -- The new border crossing between Maine and New Brunswick will open at 9 AM Monday. The crossing connects Route 1 in Calais with Church Street in St. Stephen. A new 562-foot bridge will carry travelers over the St. Croix River, which forms a natural boundary between the two countries.
All commercial traffic will be required to use the newly-opened crossing. Other drivers can use any of the three crossings.
A formal opening ceremony will be held at the new crossing on Monday, November 23.
