WINTERPORT (NEWS CENTER)--Firefighters got the call of a structure fire on Souder Station Lane at 8:18 Tuesday morning.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the house was completely engulfed in flames.

Firefigthers say nobody was home when the fire started but a dog and cat inside the home died in the fire.

"When we arrived the whole back of the house was on fire," Winterport Fire Chief Thomas Doe Said. "It's a well insulated house with cellulose and so all that cellulose we have to dig through and its a son of a gun to get completely put out."

The Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross says a couple lived in the home with their two young children.

This is one of more than a half dozen fires that the Pine Tree Chapter says it has responded to in the last two weeks
