Man Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting Baileyville Officer

BAILEYVILLE (NEWS CENTER)-- Police arrested a man for assaulting the police chief of the Baileyville Police Department Wednesday morning.

Police say Chief Philip Harriman was attempting to serve 49 year old David Troy of Baileyville with a protection from harassment order.  They say while trying to serve the order, Troy assaulted Chief Harriman.

He was transported to Calias Regional Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries and later released.

Troy was arrested for assault on an officer and taken to Washington County Jail.  He has been released on unsecured bail. 

Officers from the Calais Police Department, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Maine State Police, US Border Patrol, Indian Township Police Department and Vescom Security assisted at the scene.

The incident will be investigated by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
