PITTSFIELD, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- A Palmyra man is dead after he crashed his car on Route 2 in Pittsfield Tuesday.
Police say Jeffrey Guilford, who was 56, was on his way home from his job at Verso Paper in Jay, when his car left the road, hit a tree and rolled over in a cow field off of Route 2.
A Lifeflight helicopter was called, but police say Guilford died at the scene before the helicopter got there.
State Police were called to reconstruct the accident. They say Guilford likely fell asleep at the wheel.
