BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Workers are busy building set furniture and installing lighting for the production of "A Christmas Carol."

The Charles Dickens classic is returning to the Penobscot Theater for the first time since 2006.

The Penobscot Theatre is also putting on another holiday production, "Santaland Diaries."

"The 'Santaland Diaries' is based on David Sedaris' true experiences working as an elf one holiday season at Macy's in New York City," said Scott Levy, the producing artistic director for Penobscot Theater.

Levy added that "A Christmas Carol" is a family show but "Santaland Diaries" is for mature audiences.
