DYER BROOK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police say a high school senior had just left school around 9 a.m. Tuesday, when she lost control of her car and was killed in a crash.

State police say Jarrica Emery, 17, of Island Falls, headed home after class at Southern Aroostook Community School Tuesday morning, when she lost control on Route 2 and slid into the oncoming lane.

A tractor trailer carrying wood chips hit her car. Emery died at the scene. The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Investigators say the road was icy and slushy and that's what caused the crash.
