ROUND POND (NEWS CENTER) -- Do you want to help a soldier for christmas? A woman in Bristol has found a way. She's been sending packages of skin cream and lip balm, to help soldiers and marines deal with the harsh conditions in the war zone. Now she's hoping to recruit more people to the cause. From a little store in Round Pond, Beverly Foster is reaching across the globe. Beverly works at a market, but also sells skin care products. And she found out that soldiers airmen and marines fighting overseas are also battling a harsh climate. Because the temperature over there is so hot and arid and the sandstorms are so bad that the hand creams and lip balms are the one thing they need the most," said Foster. Beverly sent some to a soldier she knew. And he wrote back that everybody wanted some. So she put a can on the counter, to raise money for the cause. People coming in the store also brought names of local service members fighting the war, and names of soldiers from other places. Beverly sent them all boxes of the cream and lip balm ... 28 boxes so far. Foster gets letters from the soldiers who tell her what a difference she is making. She got another one from a big fan... the commandant of the U.S. Marine corps. Beverly doesn't make any money from this. She says everything goes to pay for the products and shopping. She's hoping for donations from maine people and businesses to continue to make it happen. If you want to help, you can send a check to: Beverly's Military Fund Beverly says a donation of $41.45 will send 25 containers of lip balm and skin product to each soldier.
