WEST GARDINER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A fire on Woodland Drive in West Gardiner was knocked down quickly by responding departments.
Between 4:00 and 5:00 PM Sunday, West Gardiner's fire department received a phone call reporting a fire at a modular home. With the help of Litchfield, Pittston, Farmdale and Gardiner, crews managed to knock the blaze out quickly.
The West Gardiner Fire Department says it looks like the fire started near the fireplace and spread to the ceiling. The fire chief described the spread of the conflagration as "typical" of a fire of its kind.
The homeowner injured his hand on a sliding glass door in escaping the flames, but apart from that there were no injuries.
The Fire Marshall's office was called as a precaution, but the chief would not say whether the fire was suspicious.
