BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)--- Volunteers at Manna Ministries in Bangor came together Friday morning to provide many needy families with a good holiday meal.
The organization hosted its annual Christmas Celebration at the city's recreation center on Main Street. Each year, Manna helps feed as many as 300 needy people on Christmas Day.
Those who came out to the event were treated to a wide spread of food. Manna also gave out toys, clothes and wreaths to people in attendance.
Organizers say they want to thank the nearly 150 volunteers who helped make the event a huge success.
"This couldn't happen if I didn't have the amount of volunteers I have," said 6-year volunteer Jonathon Sandau, "They're willing to go out and shake hands with anybody and make them feel comfortable being here, and that's what's important is to make people feel comfortable while they're here."
Manna Ministries also says they received support from several organizations for this year's dinner. Those groups include 'Toys for Tots' in Lincoln as well as 'The Dollar Store' in Old Town.
