Police: Crash victim not wearing seatbelt

BELGRADE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Police now say the victim of a fatal crash in Belgrade was not wearing his seat belt.
Police say Jeremiah Baker was was driving Southbound on Route 27, but he was driving in the wrong lane.  Police say he drove straight into the side of Jessica Bourget's Ford Explorer.
The collision ejected Baker from his vehicle.  Police say he was not wearing a seat belt.  Baker died from extensive internal injuries despite efforts to resuscitate him.
The crash crushed Bourget's ankle and broke her leg.  She was taken to Maine General Memorial Hospital in Augusta where she was treated an released.  Bourget was wearing her seat belt.
Police plan to perform a "vehicle autopsy" to answer additional questions.
