WEST PARIS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Crews say the fire that burned a home on Bethel Road (Route 26) likely started at the woodstove.
Crews were called to 289 Bethel Road at 11:50 AM Tuesday to reports of a fire at a residence. Upon arriving, crews found fire in the roof of the home.
It only took 20 or 30 minutes to knock the fire down, but the battle did involve extensive overhaul. Overhaul is when crews knock down walls and pull up floor boards in pursuit of the flames. Crews also say there was structural damage sustained in the conflagration.
It looks like the fire started at the woodstove, climbed up the walls and then got into the ceiling.
The home was destroyed.
The homeowner was not home at the time, he was working. He told fire crews he has a place to stay.
There were no injuries.
Crews from Woodstock, Norway, Oxford, Paris and West Paris responded to the blaze. Water had to be hauled over a mile from Trapp Corner.
