NEWRY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- New England has dodged a few major snowstorms lately and snow lovers are getting antsy. But with or without mother nature, there are still ski slopes providing good conditions.

Sunday River has nearly 2,000 snow guns-- and they've certainly seen a lot of use the past few weeks.  Without natural snow, crews there are having to work extra to spread their man-made snow around.

Shawnee Peak says they usually stop making snow by the start of January but this year they've been working well into February.

The ski area has added about 20 extra snow guns to their line up this year.

They've also switched to a new, more efficient system so even with their guns working overtime, they're using about 30% less energy.

Whether it's man-made or nature induced, snow is covering both ski areas and both places say conditions are great.
