BETHEL, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The town of Bethel will hold a special meeting Tuesday night, asking voters if they want to disband the town's police department.
The police force in the town currently has one full-time officer and seven part-time officers. The police chief resigned last September.
If the town passes the resolution, policing would be contracted with the Oxford County Sheriff's Department.
The meeting is set for 7:00 PM at the Crescent Park School.
