BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- With the sweltering heat lately, it may be hard for some of us to imagine cold weather, but people at Penobscot Community Health Care are celebrating Christmas in July.

PCHC is holding a yard sale this Saturday from 9-2 at 1012 Union Street in Bangor.  Some of the items that will be for sale are locally grown plants, handmade crafts, and baked goods. All of the money raised in the yard sale will go toward the PCHC employee heating assistance fund.

"We've been doing it for a couple of years and the first year we handed out almost $18,000 in payments for people's fuel bills," Sharon Swanson, Chief Operating Officer, PCHC, said. "So what happens is the employee brings in the fuel bill and we pay $300-$500 toward that bill."

Funds will be made available from December 1st through April 1st through the employee heating assistance program.
