CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine (AP) - Organizers of Maine's biggest road race are ready to start putting up the mile markers.

Race officials on Thursday get to work installing the markers on the road course for the 10-kilometer TD Bank Beach to Beacon road race in Cape Elizabeth.

The 15th annual running of the Beach to Beacon established by Olympic gold medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson will be held on Aug. 4.

Samuelson, who won gold in the first women's marathon held in 1984 in Los Angeles, grew up in Cape Elizabeth, where the race runs from Crescent Beach to the Portland Light House at Fort Williams. This year's beneficiary is the Center for Grieving Children.
