BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Kev-Lan cafe and convenience store has been a family run institution in Bangor for the last 20 years, but that is all about to change now that another family run business is buying it.
Kev-Lan will soon become a Dysart's Truck Stop and Convenience Store. Vice President Tim Dysart said the deal should be finalized by the middle of next month.
One of the co-owners of Kev-Lan Cheryl Noyes said she was looking to sell the business due to health reasons. Noyes said her father started Kev-Lan in Dec. of 1991 and she is happy to see another family business take over.
"I felt very pleased that we were able to have a local family that could purchase Kev-Lan to keep it open and going," Noyes said
Dysart said the new location will offer gas and similar services to its travel locations.
"It's a pretty good fit for us. You know this is similar to what we do already, a little bit bigger than most of our other ones, but I think we can make it fit well for us," Dysart said.
Dysart said there probably will not be a restaurant at the new location. The food will be mostly prepared, grab and go type food.
