a. Michael Jackson
The Scarecrow was most famously played by Ray Bolger in the 1939 movie adaptation of "The Wizard of Oz." Bolger was born on Jan. 10, 1904.
The role was inherited by Michael Jackson for the 1978 reinvention of the story with a predominantly African-American cast.
Some of the other big names with parts in the movie were Diana Ross as Dorothy, Nipsey Russell as the Tinman and Richard Pryor as the Wiz. Despite their combined star power, the movie tanked at the box office.
