NEW SHARON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- State police say a New Sharon man has died from his injuries sustained in a car crash Thursday afternoon.
Police said 62-year-old John Pelletier was exiting his driveway on Route 2 in New Sharon Thursday just after 4 p.m. when his pickup truck collided with a tractor trailer in front of his home.
Authorities said Pelletier cut into the path of the tractor trailer, and it was unable to avoid his pickup truck.
Pelletier was initially taken Franklin Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries, and was later taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the crash.
Police said Pelletier died from his injuries Friday afternoon at CMMC.
Alcohol and a possible medical issue on Pelletier's part are being looked at as possible causes for the crash.
Route 2 was closed for several hours Thursday as police were investigating the accident.
