GRAY, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says agents arrested a couple from Lewiston over the weekend on the Maine Turnpike in Gray.
Investigators say around 8:00pm Sunday, State Police pulled over a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Tanya Cahill. Her passenger was William Murchison, 29, also of Lewiston. The Maine Department of Public Safety says MDEA agents alerted State Police that the occupants of the vehicle were likely transporting drugs from Boston to the Lewiston area.
State Police say Cahill provided them a false name, but was later identified. Investigators say there was an odor of marijuana coming from the car, which Murchison admitted was from him.
When investigators searched the car, they say they found nine ounces of crack cocaine valued at $25,000.
Cahill and Murchison are charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs. They were taken to the Cumberland County Jail. Bail is set at $10,000 cash for each of them.
The MDEA says more arrests are expected.
