Friday school leaders cut the ribbon at a new building dedicated to it. The goal is to give students the space and resources they need to create new business in Maine.

Counselors here will match students with mentors, financing and grant programs, and other resources. The University says programs like this are a good fit for our state.

Maine is full of young and creative people and the more opportunity we give them at a younger age, even trying to start developing programs for fifth, sixth, seventh grade, high school, it's really stimulating that part of the culture," said Jake Ward from the University of Maine.

The UMaine innovation center is located near Jenness Hall and the Hilltop area of campus.
