Mark Eichenbaum, a car salesman from Augusta, came up with the idea for this handy device while helping his mother carry groceries.

The Baggler is a squared-off handle with three hooks, each of which can hold up to 18 pounds of groceries. It is said to be a lot more comfortable than those thin plastic straps on store shopping bags.

Eichenbaum had little trouble selling the idea to a marketing company, and the Baggler is now available at almost 200 grocery, liquor and convenience stores. Wal-Mart is also expressing interest in the device.

"I wanted to be successful in my own backyard first and now I am getting inquiries from the largest retail operations in the entire country. It's the tip of the iceberg," said Eichenbaum.

By the end of the month, "The Baggler" will be on the shelves of every Hannaford store in Maine. They will replace a similiar carrier made in China.
